What No Phil and Phyllis?

The Phillies' fan newsletter is chock full of information about their new stadium, the one that won't open for another year and charge, this week. There's an article on how to choose the perfect grass, ah, turf--perhaps some Carl Spackler's special hybrid from Caddyshack. There's an interview of the man overseeing the construction. And then there's this:

SCULPTURE UPDATE

World-renowned artist Zenos Frudakis is well into the
process of creating the 10-foot tall bronze statues of
Phillies legends for the New Ballpark. Having already
completed the 10" clay models, Frudakis is presently
sculpting the 3' models to resemble the 10' large-scale
statues. With the main purpose of seeing facial and other
features firsthand, Frudakis often invites the players
and/or close family members to see the progress directly
and provide input. John Ashburn, Richie Ashburn's son, met
recently with Frudakis and was delighted to see how the
maquette of his father was evolving. Frudakis is also
creating statues of former Phillies greats Mike Schmidt,
Steve Carlton and Robin Roberts. Following the creation of
the 3' clay models, Frudakis will make a 10' model of each
player as well.

I'm not sure why Pete Alexander, Chuck Klein, Billy Hamilton, and Ed Delahanty got overlooked, but it will be good to see the Phils celebrating their history a bit. The Vet has some cheesy genero-Phillies sculpture dating from around 1978 in the front. The only homages to their four recent HoF inductees are the be-pinstriped retired numbers resting above the retracted extra seating for football.
