Former Blue Jays manager hired by minor league team
Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Former Toronto Blue Jays manager Tim Johnson was hired Tuesday as the new manager of the Lincoln Saltdogs of the Northern League.
Johnson guided Toronto to an 88-74 record in 1998, but was fired by the club the following year after it was determined he lied about his military service in Vietnam.
The 53-year-old Johnson spent the majority of the last four years managing in the Mexican leagues. He will take over for Les Lancaster, who was fired in October.
